About Grow Grit Press LLC

The mission of Ninja Life Hacks is to empower children with skills to last a lifetime. Life is hard and its even harder for children who are just trying to figure things out. Thats where Ninja Life Hacks comes in. With a toolbox of hacks, children are able to better handle everyday challenges. Mary Nhin, the founder of Ninja Life Hacks, has co-founded and built several multi-million dollar companies in different industries, but she has failed many times before. She learned lessons along the way and developed a growth mindset and grit, tapping into her mental strength she attained as a young minority child dealing with adversity. In 2019, Ninja Life Hacks was born, but its story started in 2004 when she decided to be a stay-at-home mother. It was in those years that she witnessed the challenges her children faced with big emotions and struggles. She made up characters about ninjas with special superpowers. When her youngest, Jojo, shared that he was scared of the dark, she would tell him, Once upon a time there lived a Brave Ninja who possessed a special superpower of courage. Even when you dont FEEL brave, you can BE brave because being brave is a choice that we get to make with our breath, body, and voice. When Kobe, her second child, was 12 and experiencing anxiety during tennis, she empowered with him tools that he could use to stay calm. After Kobe implemented these skills, he became more confident. In that same season, in his online English class, the teacher asked him to write a research paper on any subject. He chose to write about mental strength. Mary could tell from reading his paper that Kobe was overcoming self doubt. They talked about how it would be awesome to share it with other kids that may also be experiencing self doubt, too. So, they turned it into a childrens book and queried different publishers, but got 13 rejections. Mary said, Sometimes, life doesnt work out as planned, but dont ever let that stop you. Lets learn how to self publish. Kobe ran a kickstarter, Mary published it, and it was so well received that Kobe wrote two more in the series for soccer players and future Olympians. Mary continued publishing and put her ninja stories onto paper. What started out as 16 ninjas blossomed into 32 ninjas. Today, its become a powerhouse childrens brand with more than 99 ninja characters including Angry Ninja, Anxious Ninja, and Money Ninja. The sheer number of characters and social stories, more than 100 books, make it a unique brand. She and her team continually listen to feedback from readers and implement suggestions which has helped her company be successful. Having a small team and using contract labor has also assisted her companys profitability, allowing her to be nimble enough to create a complete curriculum with toys, cards, lesson plans serving the education community, and board books reaching beyond the core age market of ages 4-10.
