About BSG Tire Recycling

Our company was founded to solve the problem of illegal dumping, burying, and landfilling scrap tires. We believe that old tires can be recycled into new and valuable products. Since our inception, that is what we have been doing. We recycle tires and turn them into a high quality rubber mulch, aggregates that have applications in civil engineering, and we recycled the steel inside of the tire. We are the only licensed tire recycling facility in Detroit and our team is made up of a small team of people who are aligned around our mission. We hire intentionally from the community that our business lives in. Our mission-based mindset that allows us to strategically partner with other like-minded individuals and companies and this has led to new oportunities and fast-growth in our company. We know that it is possible to do well while doing good. Our uniqueness is found in our willingness to ask questions and do things differently. Several years ago we noticed that there was a disconnect between the research that university scientists had discovered about how tires can be sustainably reused and recycled and how the typical scrap tire recycler handled old tires. We are connecting the latest science with the right commercial opportunities. This willingess to take calculated risks aligned with our mission is delivering great results. We are currently preparing to build a first-of-a-kind manufacturing plant in the U.S. that uses high-pressure waterjet technology to render an ISO-certified rubber product made from large-format tires. This will literally allow us to create a closed-loop recycling chain in which old tires can be recycled and reused in new ones.
